Rising ocean temperatures have shifted skipjack migration corridors 40–60 nautical miles eastward, reducing local catch per unit effort by 18 percent since 2015. Journalists based in Majuro rarely secure transport to affected atolls during reporting cycles because domestic flight schedules operate once weekly and inter-atoll vessel fuel costs exceed $2,200 per trip.
Marshall Islands lacks broadband beyond Majuro and Ebeye; 70 percent of outer-island households rely on single-sideband radio for market price updates.
